It is traditional for the hearse with the coffin to be escorted to the boundary of the church grounds after a funeral. These photographs show a typical procession, led by the thurifer and other clergy, before the vicar stands by the gate as the hearse leaves the grounds. In this case, a splendid old horse-drawn hearse was used.
