This life-size wooden polychrome statue of Christ is a copy of a famous carving by the Scandanavian sculptor Thorvaldsen of Copenhagen. It was damaged on arrival in Melbourne in 1928 and was restored by the local woodcaver, Robert Prenzel. This statue is currently placed at the rear of the church, by the Holy Water stoup at the entrance.

Canon Farnham Maynard originally placed it above the Venetian Last Supper mosaic that is behind the High Altar. Maynard comments: " 'Come unto Me,' it seems to say; and not for rest only, but to go along with Me in carrying out the Father's will."
