Given the recent ecumenical developments that have emerged between the Anglican Communion and the Roman Catholic Church, the ISS is pleased to host an ecumenical seminar on Ecclesiology, with two distinguished international scholars, the Most Revd Dr Peter Carnley and Rev Dr Gerald O'Collins, SJ. They will explore the question of "What does it mean to be the Church, locally and universally?" This topic is the subject of the third phase of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission (ARCIC III) inaugurated by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and Benedict XVI in Rome in November 2009.
A day not to be missed by anyone interested in Ecumenism or in the relationship between the Anglican Communion and the Catholic Church.

Archbishop Carnley is a theologian, author and church politician. He was Archbishop of Perth from 1981 to 2005, and was Primate of the Anglican Church in Australia between 2000 and 2005. He has served as co-chair of ARCIC since the 1980s.

| Revd Dr Gerald O'Collins, SJ.
Fr Gerald was born in Melbourne and has taught at the Gregorian University in Rome for more than thirty years. He is the author of over forty books, including Catholicism (Oxford University Press) and Easter Faith (Darton, Longman and Todd).
