For three centuries the resources for Anglican Liturgy were found in, and limited by, the Book of Common Prayer (1662). In the 20th century, many additional or alternate resources were authorised by the various Anglican Provinces around the world. This has been true in Australia with the authorisation of An Australian Prayer Book (1977/8) and A Prayer Book for Australia (1995). In the 21st century, post-modernism has challenged the idea of 'authorisation' and there has been an explosion of resources from the internet. Two members of the national Liturgy Commission, Rhys Bezzant and Ron Dowling, will give their views about where Australian Anglican liturgy might be headed from here.

The Rev'd Dr Ron Dowling
Ron Dowling recently retired from full-time pastoral ministry. He now teaches liturgy part-time at the United Faculty of Theology. As well as serving on the national Liturgy Commission for just on 30 years, he has served on the International Anglican Liturgical Consultation (as Chair from 1995-2001). His publications include an article in The Oxford Guide to the Book of Common Prayer, and he is co-editing a book on Anglican Ordination.

| The Rev'd Dr Rhys Bezzant
Rhys Bezzant is Dean of Missional Leadership and Lecturer in Christian Thought at Ridley Melbourne, where he also teaches church history and Christian worship. He is currently a Visiting Fellow in the Yale Divinity School, and leads the Jonathan Edwards Center for Australia, housed at Ridley. He serves on the General Synod Liturgy Commission and the Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue for Australia.
