Seminar 3:

Journeying on a 'slippery slope' — the vision of a church including the homosexual communityIn 2006, Dr Keith Mascord, formerly a lecturer at Moore College Sydney, wrote a moving Open Letter to the Standing Committee of the diocese of Sydney appealing for a more gracious and loving diocese. The letter was widely circulated and an abbreviated form found its way into the Sydney Morning Herald. In his book, 'A Restless Faith: Leaving Fundamentalism In A Quest For God', Keith gives an account of his costly personal journey, punctuated with his own theological reflections. In this seminar, Keith will share something of that personal journey and also recount his vision for a more inclusive Church, open and welcoming of homosexual people. He sees the evening as a way of responding, in part, to Archbishop Jensen's remarks made on Q&A last year, for a more robust and respectful public debate on this controversial issue.
