St Peter's is located on the intersection of Gisborne and Albert Streets, Eastern Hill, beside Parliament House and across the street from St Patrick's Cathedral. St Peter's parishioners come from all across the metropolitan area.
St Peter's Choir is an adult choir of men and women which furnishes the church's liturgical musical requirements every Sunday at 11.00 am High Mass and 5.00 pm Choral Evensong as well as on several major Feast Days (as advertised). The repertoire of the choir is drawn mainly from the Renaissance and Tudor periods and features composers such as Palestrina, Byrd, Tallis, Victoria. Works from the 19th & 20th Centuries are also performed. Plainsong forms a major part of the sung Ordinary of the Mass and of the Office of Evensong and is an integral part of St Peter's life and liturgical witness.
As in many Anglo-Catholic churches, at St Peter's music is treated as an important vehicle for creating an atmosphere that will encourage prayer and the experience of God through beauty. The music presented in the concerts, is principally drawn from material used in services at St Peter's.
