Dear Parishioners and Friends of St Peter’s,

Our hearts go out to three parishioners who have lost loved ones over the past week: Andrew Raiskusm, whose father Uldis has died; Gordon Campbell, who has lost his mother Frances; and Nicola Kleynhans, whose mother’s funeral was held yesterday in Perth. May they rest in peace … and rise in glory.
Last Wednesday was the monthly Parish Council meeting, and I thought that you might appreciate a summary of some of the key issues and decisions that your Parish Council are considering and making at the present time, so as to keep you informed.

Mission Action Planning 2021-23. The majority of this month’s P.C. meeting was taken up with work on the Mission Action Plan (MAP) and was facilitated by former P.C. member, David Spriggs. Over the coming weeks a small sub-committee of P.C. will work on a first draft of the new MAP, before presenting it to P.C. and other lay leaders and parish staff in late October. A final draft of the MAP will then be presented to the Annual Meeting of the parish in November for further comment.

New Position - ASLM Youth Minister. The P.C. has decided to create a new position of ASLM Youth Minister. It is hoped that the Youth Minister will consider living on-site, in the currently vacant Keble House flat. The Youth Minister will be tasked with building bridges between our worshipping community and the St Peter’s student outreach ministries at RMIT University and the Social Enterprise meals program. Anyone interested in viewing the Position Description and applying for the job should send an expression of interest, and Curriculum Vitae, by Friday 2nd October to me: vicar at stpeters.org.au

Parish Hall Air Conditioning. Most parishioners will be (painfully) aware that the Parish Hall air-conditioning system has ceased to operate, despite numerous attempts at repair and maintenance over the years. The time has come to replace the old system, and thanks to a generous bequest from Gina McPherson – tagged for just such a need – the P.C. is now able to action this. All going well, the new system will be installed in time for summer.

Other Matters. For those who missed the ABC News on Monday last week, there was an article on the St Peter’s Social Enterprise meals program that we have recorded on the parish YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/HmywUZwsx5s <https://youtu.be/HmywUZwsx5s> This month we have launched the new Parish Giving brochure, for those who would like to renew their giving pledges to the parish: https://bit.ly/2RTNd3H <https://bit.ly/2RTNd3H> - thanks to everyone for all you have given over the past year, in money and in kind.

Have a great weekend everyone; stay safe, stay well, and stay connected … to God and to one another :)
Fr Hugh
