Vicar's Musings for Ordinary Sunday 1118 June, 2017 It is a joy to welcome the Rev'd Melissa Clark back to St Peter's on this first Sunday after Trinity. She will be the celebrant at all three morning Masses. Mel undertook a major placement at St Peter's in 2014, for twelve months, while training as an ordinand at Trinity College Theological School. She worked tirelessly in the parish, well beyond the required hours, and won the friendship and respect of numerous parishioners at all three of our Sunday morning congregations. It was at a time in the life of our parish when we were considering the question of ordained women's ministry at St Peter's, and a number of those who were hesitant about this new direction have since told me that it was Mel's integrity and friendship that changed their minds. Since her time with us, Bishop Andrew Curnow ordained Mel into the priesthood, and she now serves the Bendigo Diocese in the Parish of Woodend. We extend a warm welcome also to Mel's husband Ray, to other members of their family, and to a number of Woodend parishioners who are joining us this morning. The Rev'd Dr Hugh Kempster |
