Fr Cheong as a retreat conductor, St George's College, Perth, WA, c. 1935

St George's College, Perth, c. 1935

Father Cheong is pictured here in the grounds of St George's College Perth during a retreat for which he was the conductor. His reputation as a discerning spiritual director led to many invitations to take quiet days and retreats, and while most of these were from groups in Melbourne, his reputation extended interstate. One of his regular penitents was John Frewer, bishop of North West Australia.
