Seminar 9a:
Benjamin Britten Festival

Benjamin Britten This year is the centenary of the birth of the English composer Benjamin Britten. The Institute for Spiritual Studies and the choir of St Peter's are presenting a day of lectures and performances of Britten's sacred music on Sunday the 18th of August. Eleven o'clock High Mass at St Peter's will include Britten's Missa Brevis and the anthem 'Hymn to the Virgin'. This will be followed later, in the hall, by lectures on Britten's music by Michael Leighton-Jones and Andrew Raiskums. The choir and soloists of St Peter's, directed by Andrew Raiskums, will then give an afternoon performance featuring 'A Ceremony of Carols' and 'Abraham and Isaac'.
