A picture may be worth 1000 words, but how do artists go about visualizing the words of Scripture? Moving from the tentative, compressed, Early Christian symbols to the complex and vast cycles of late mediaeval and Renaissance art, we will explore the ways in which images can accompany, parallel, and dialogue with words in ways which can enrich our responses to the scriptural teaching.

Sophia Errey.
Sophia is an artist, art educator and writer. She has lectured widely in the visual arts both historical and contemporary, and previously developed and taught courses on Christian Iconography. She has also led study groups at her home church, St Peter's, Box Hill, on the Nativity and Passion cycles, Lenten saints and Jerusalem. Her most recent exhibition was THROUGH (Vocatus atque ni vocatus) at Langford 120 in 2016.
