Seminar 6:
Evelyn Underhill's Mysticism
— 100 years on

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the publication of Evelyn Underhill's great work, 'Mysticism' (1911). Evelyn Underhill comes in the latter days of the religious revival of the nineteenth century which drew much of its inspiration from the Oxford Movement. That Movment had opened religious minds in the United Kingdom to the grand vistas of the Christian Centuries. Underhill drew on this with extraordinary enthusiasm, deep devotion and an amazing ability to communicate her message. In this seminar, Fr Austin Cooper gives a general introduction to this great English spiritual writer, placing her in the context of her life and mission.
