Barney Zwartz
Barney is communications adviser to the Anglican Primate, Melbourne Archbishop Philip Freier, and a senior fellow with the Centre for Public Christianity. Last December he left The Age after 32 years as a journalist there, the last 12 of which he was religion editor. He won a number of awards from Muslim and interfaith organisations, covered two papal conclaves and the canonisation of Mary McKillop in Rome, and covered the Victorian parliamentary inquiry into clergy sexual abuse. For five years he ran a highly successful blog, The Religious Write. Other roles at The Age included writing about classical music, opera reviewing, and being letters editor and opinion editor. He is married to author Morag Zwartz.
