St Columba: The taking of a journey and transformation of suffering into peace, joy and compassion
Outward journeys are accompanied by the symbolic pilgrimage of the inner spirit.
This quiet day will centre on the many aspects of the life of Columba, also known as Columcille, including his work as scribe, author, pilgrim and hymn writer.
We will explore what is known of his historical circumstances, before, during and after Iona.
Of importance is how the story of this major Christian figure compares with the lives of other Celtic saints, such as Patrick, Brendan and Brigid.
Emphasis will be put on the meaning and power of this myth in our own lives.
During the day there will be times of quiet reflection.
We will conclude with a guided meditation.
